Treasury, The Beatles and a little history

I don't know how many of you are familiar with making treasuries on Etsy, but I know when I first started on Etsy I kept seeing all these treasuries and my question was: How do you make a treasury?
I went through and taught myself, but boy it's harder than it looks to make a really good, Front page worthy treasury.

I remember my first one I made back in November--it took me probably 2 hours (this was before I thought OH hello-'right click' 'copy link source') Anyways I was pretty proud of myself, but it didn't get a lot of attention right away because I didn't have many followers/wasn't part of any teams etc--then suddenly I started getting all these views and comments and people were saying things like "great fp" and I was like 'What is a FP??'
I don't remember how I figured it out, but I went to the home page and WAHLAH- There was my name! So exciting!!I definitely wanted to make more, but the time was not working for me. And I didn't make any for a while until---Teams.

OK-so I mentioned earlier my love for the teams I joined and how it's really helped me get moving on Etsy, in a small amount of time. This week a participated in a song treasury for my Vintage Explosion team: My song- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (click to view treasury and check out some other great Vintage shops!) I chose an array of paisley, flowers, geometric patterns, diamonds and bright patterns for an overall psychedelic look.

Some fun facts I learned about the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds":
-The Beatles claim that the initials of the title 'LSD' are merely a coincidence, that the song is actually named after a drawing Johns son, Julian drew of a girl in his class.(source)
-Lucy passed away in 2009 due to Lupus (Source)
-The skeleton of the earliest specimen of human life was named after the song, Lucy. (source)

Check out my fellow teammates Pinterest board to see all the other amazing treasuries that were created during this challenge!! Vintage Explosion Treasury Board

Have a great day!!

Promotion and SEO for my Etsy shop

Hello all,

Over the past couple months I've been working hard to find new ways to promote my shop. My sales dropped in January and I was concerned so I spent some time researching what I could do to improve. My findings were made up of two things: JOIN TEAMS and research SEO.

I cannot express how much joining teams on Etsy has helped my overall experience. Not only have my views, favorites and sales gone up--but I also have a group of people I can go to with questions or who will answer my questions before I even get a chance to ask. I joined 4 teams, however I'm only really active in two, sometimes 3-- Vintage Vertigo and Vintage Explosion are the ones I participate in most. I also joined a local group for the Bay Area, but that's a different crowd that I haven't really meshed with yet.

The next thing I came across was a ton of controversy on how to make your items more relevant on Etsy--basically a ton of myths on SEO. I've been using Google Ad Words keywords to edit some of my tags and titles to more common terms. I'm still learning a lot, but most of my views do come from Etsy search so I'm doing okay--when making a listing I do the following things:

1)Find the most common searched words for the given item
2) Choose the most relevant to my item (often times there will be a lot of commonly searched terms that I      don't think match my item)
3)Rephrase the title description of my item in the first few sentences
4) Tags focus on my title words written exactly the same way--I also include in tags: team tags, color, decade, etc
5)Post my item and hope for views

My most searched keywords of all time have been jumpsuit, platforms and bikini--> I think it's important to keep tabs on these things because this is what people want and are actively shopping for.

Obviously I'm still learning, but I'm working hard to get my shop out there online and offline through word of mouth--my new goal is to work on this blog and make it worth following

Pop up show, rebranding, class, throwback thursday, banner and logo

Happy December everyone! The first week of December is always the most hectic for me--being in school and now being part of an online sellers community it was extra crazy this year. I participated in my first pop-up show on 12/4 called "All Vintage Everything". It was fun, I got to meet other local vendors that sell vintage and I got a feel of how they do things and heard about some other great spots to sell my items! All in all a successful night I think.

I am looking to redesign my brand a bit, I worked on a banner and logo last night when I was babysitting, it was a long process because I haven't edited images in a while. I started with an old black and white(also our throw back for this Thursday):

I actually have that dress from the late 40's--she had it in a teal(the one she's wearing) and a silver. Unfortunately the silver one got rusty from the metal on the sleeves. The teal one is in great condition it just needs to be dry cleaned and right now I'm pressed for time.

Anyways I took that picture of Tosca and wanted to create a silhouette time thing for a logo--this is what I got:

I trued to get it to a point of black and white where there was still enough detail to make out her face. I think this picture is just so classy and that's what I want to show in the redesign of my shop.

To get this look I used

The finished products were done in Paint, I don't have any fancy Image software on this computer yet. i think they came out pretty good for the minimal tools you have available in Paint. Here they are:

I think it's simpler, cleaner and an overall better look for my shop. I'm working on curating everything and making it look a bit better too. The only downfall is I just ordered business cards, however they were last minute same day cards from Office depot that only cost me $20 so I'm torn whether I should past some of those out and wait a while to do this or just go and do it now. Dilemna...

Anyway, the shop has some great NYE tops and dresses, I had some good holiday dresses too, but they go so fast!! Come by and check it out!!   TimelessThreadsSF, soon to be T.M. Vintage
