Leather Dilemna

I spent half this morning stocking my shop. The other half was spent researching leathers, pleathers, vinyls etc. Specifically for this item:   This jacket I had someone tell me was patent leather, but I'm not sure. It felt more plastic-y to me and the back was lined with a stretchy almost mesh like very thin black fabric. I was confused and did some research. I'm still not 100%, but I think it might be PU leather. I ruled out genuine leather before the research--no suede backing, not thick enough, doesn't have any scent etc. I thought it might be vinyl--but it's not shiny enough and has more flexibility--this is where I got stuck. I looked up pleathers and the type that I felt most described this jacket was PU leather--or poly synthetic leather. A faux leather that has more flexibility to it, is more matte with just a little shine and is thinner. However I'm not 100% so I felt a little iffy posting it in my shop--I figured though I'd rather wrongly la...

The Mule: Power Symbol or Fashion Faux Pas?

Reaching as far back as Ancient Rome the shoe we refer to as Mules carried a status symbol. Due to extreme impracticality you can imagine only those living lavish, luxurious life styles could wear them. In fact, in Ancient Rome only the three highest elected officials were allowed to wear mules (at the time flat, closed toed, backless). Talk about exclusive. Not until the 18th century would Mules appear in the fashion world. They maintained their status symbol thanks to their impractical design, attracting wealthy women. Somewhere along the line mules lost their status symbol when prostitutes began wearings them. However, like many trends they were bound to make a comeback. Who better to set a trend than the iconic Marilyn Monroe. She brought mules to their height in the 1950's. The past 60 years mules have come and gone. Now they're back! We've seen them throughout the year, but they're entering fall with a pointed toe and new colors. Are you a fan of the mule? ...

Treasury, The Beatles and a little history

I don't know how many of you are familiar with making treasuries on Etsy, but I know when I first started on Etsy I kept seeing all these treasuries and my question was: How do you make a treasury? I went through and taught myself, but boy it's harder than it looks to make a really good, Front page worthy treasury. I remember my first one I made back in November--it took me probably 2 hours (this was before I thought OH hello-'right click' 'copy link source') Anyways I was pretty proud of myself, but it didn't get a lot of attention right away because I didn't have many followers/wasn't part of any teams etc--then suddenly I started getting all these views and comments and people were saying things like "great fp" and I was like 'What is a FP??' I don't remember how I figured it out, but I went to the home page and WAHLAH- There was my name! So exciting!!I definitely wanted to make more, but the time was not working for me. ...
